Fusion@Midtown is proud to announce its new weekly program called Pitch Craft! Let’s face it, public speaking is scary. But, compelling presentations can unlock funding for a startup venture, build momentum around policy change, and inspire others to take action. Conveying our mission in a clear, concise, and compelling manner is one of the great challenges we face in bringing about change in business. Pitch Craft is designed to address this challenge by offering entrepreneurs, startups, and anyone with an idea the opportunity to hone their pitch and overcome the anxiety tied to public speaking. Pitch Craft will offer 2 slots per week every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. where participants will get up to 30 minutes each to present their pitch to a live audience and get feedback from an esteemed panel of local experts and former pitch competition judges. This is not a blueprint for what to put into your presentation. This isn’t a powerpoint tutorial. This is a hands-on exploration in how to craft, practice, present, and critically analyze a compelling pitch.
To kick off this weekly program, Fusion@Midtown’s very first member and esteemed entrepreneurial coach Megan Arneson will lead an introductory workshop where you’ll learn the basics of her innovative framework for crafting and pitching ideas, as well allow you to practice these tools in a hands-on setting. If you have a big idea but are struggling to bring it the visibility and audience it deserves, then you don’t want to miss our Pitch Craft: Intro Workshop!
The workshop will be on Tuesday, January 24th from 12 p.m. noon to 1:30 p.m. After the workshop, stay for networking or grab a bite to eat from the amazing eateries nearby, then come back for our 2:30 p.m. practice session to apply what you’ve learned, get feedback, and hone your pitching skills!
The Pitch Craft: Intro Workshop aims to accomplish several things:
- Acknowledge your unique strengths and struggles around pitches or presentations
- Address the underlying causes of “presentation anxiety” and gain tools to manage them
- Reinforce the human-to-human aspect of presentations as a form of communication, without relying upon technology to deliver a powerful message
- Liberate yourself from PowerPoint … this is not a “how-to” workshop on slide design
- Explore a flexible, four-step framework for creating, delivering, and evaluating presentations through interactive exercises, unexpected examples, and entertaining demonstrations
Please RSVP and register for the workshop here.
